PNG to JPG Converter

Need a JPG for an upload form or a photo workflow? Convert a static PNG on your device, with a background you choose for transparent areas.

Processed on your device

Your selected images and pasted text stay in this browser tab. No upload, account or paid AI call.

Static PNG · up to 20 MiB · 16 megapixels · max 8192 px per side

Choose what replaces transparency

JPEG does not support an alpha channel. This tool first paints the chosen solid background, then draws your PNG over it. White is the default; select another colour when it suits your image. Inspect the preview, especially around translucent edges, before downloading.

The decoded pixel dimensions stay the same. JPG is lossy: higher quality generally preserves more detail at a larger size. The quality percentage is an encoder setting, not a percentage reduction or a promise that the output will be smaller. Keep PNG when you need transparency or crisp graphics.

Conversion stays in your browser

The selected PNG is decoded and exported in this tab. No image is uploaded to our server or an AI service. Ordinary page resources still load over the network. Download the result before refreshing or closing the tab.

Static PNG only, up to 20 MiB, 16 megapixels and 8192 pixels per side. Animated PNG is rejected. Source metadata is not copied, and browser decoding or colour handling can affect output. Changing an option clears the previous result so you can generate a matching download.

How to use it

  1. Choose a static PNG — Select the image from your device. Renaming a different format to .png does not convert it.
  2. Set the background and quality — Choose the colour that replaces transparency and a JPEG quality setting, then convert.
  3. Inspect and download — Check the preview, pixel dimensions and file size, then download the JPG. Keep your original PNG.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to a transparent background?

JPG cannot keep transparency. Transparent and semi-transparent areas are composited over the solid colour you choose, initially white.

Will the JPG always be smaller?

No. Size depends on image content, encoder settings and the original PNG. Compare the displayed output size; this tool does not guarantee a target byte size.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Conversion and download creation happen inside your browser tab, without sending the selected image to our server or an AI service.

Does conversion improve the original quality?

No. JPEG encoding loses some information and does not add missing detail. The output keeps decoded dimensions but does not preserve source metadata.
