JPG to PNG Converter
Need PNG for an editor or an upload form? Convert a JPG or JPEG locally, inspect the result and save it to your device.
Your selected images and pasted text stay in this browser tab. No upload, account or paid AI call.
Change the format without inventing detail
The tool decodes your JPEG and exports the resulting pixels as PNG. It keeps the dimensions reported by the browser, including browser-applied orientation. Both .jpg and .jpeg sources are accepted; a renamed PNG or other format is rejected.
JPEG has already discarded information. Converting it to PNG does not restore lost detail, remove its background or create transparency. A PNG can take more bytes, especially for photographs. This is a compatibility conversion, not an image enhancer or a target-size compressor.
Your file stays in this tab
Decoding, preview and PNG export happen in your browser. The chosen image is not uploaded to our server or sent to AI. Save the result before refreshing or closing the tab. Ordinary page resources still use the network.
The input limit is 20 MiB, 16 megapixels and 8192 pixels per side. Structurally incomplete JPEG scans are rejected. Browser colour handling may affect output, and source EXIF or other metadata is not copied into the PNG. Keep your original when those details matter.
How to use it
- Choose a JPG or JPEG — Select a complete JPEG image from your device.
- Convert and preview — Press Convert to PNG and inspect the decoded image, dimensions and output size.
- Download the PNG — Save the result locally and keep your original JPEG if you need its metadata.
Frequently asked questions
Are JPG and JPEG both accepted?
Yes. They name the same image format. The file bytes are checked, so changing another format’s extension is not enough.
Does PNG restore JPEG quality?
No. It stores the decoded pixels without another JPEG encode, but cannot recover detail lost earlier. Browser decoding and colour handling can still affect the result.
Will the background become transparent?
No. An ordinary JPEG is opaque. Format conversion does not remove its background or invent an alpha channel.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The image is converted and the download is created in this browser tab, without an image upload or paid AI call.
