WebP to PNG Converter

Need a PNG for an editor or an upload form? Convert one static WebP at a time, right on your device. No file upload or account.

Processed on your device

Your selected images and pasted text stay in this browser tab. No upload, account or paid AI call.

Static WebP · up to 20 MiB · 16 megapixels · max 8192 px per side

A PNG you can use elsewhere

PNG is useful when an editor or destination does not accept WebP. This converter decodes the image and exports the same pixel dimensions to a PNG. Transparent pixels remain transparent; it does not replace the background with white.

Changing the format cannot recover detail lost in a previously compressed image. A PNG may be larger than the WebP source. Browser image decoding and colour handling can also affect the output; this is not an archival metadata-preserving conversion.

Local processing, with clear limits

Your selected file stays in this browser tab. Conversion does not send the image to our server or to an AI service. Download the result before closing or refreshing the tab. The website itself still loads ordinary page resources.

This version accepts static WebP files up to 20 MiB, 16 megapixels and 8192 pixels on either side. Animated WebP is rejected rather than silently flattened. EXIF and other source metadata are not copied. If the browser cannot decode the file, try a different source image.

How to use it

  1. Select a static WebP — Choose a file from your device. A renamed PNG or an animated file is not accepted.
  2. Convert and inspect — Press Convert to PNG and check the image, dimensions and output size.
  3. Download the PNG — Save the result to your device. Keep your original file if you need its metadata.

Frequently asked questions

Is my WebP uploaded?

No. The file is decoded and converted inside your browser. Selecting or converting it does not upload the image.

Will the background stay transparent?

Yes, the PNG keeps the transparency produced by the browser decoder. The checkerboard is only a preview background and is not added to the downloaded pixels.

Can it convert an animated WebP?

This version accepts static images only. It rejects animated WebP so you do not accidentally download a single frame instead of the animation.

Why is the PNG bigger?

WebP often compresses photographs more efficiently. PNG is a format conversion for compatibility, not a guarantee of a smaller file or better detail.
