Image Compressor

Prepare a lighter image before publishing. Choose a format, quality and maximum dimensions, then inspect the actual output size before downloading.

Your selected images and pasted text stay in this browser tab. No upload, account or paid AI call.

PNG, JPG or static WebP · up to 20 MiB · 16 megapixels · max 8192 px per side

Maximum pixel bounds. Proportions stay the same; images are never enlarged. Output size is not guaranteed.

Change quality and dimensions together

Choose WebP to keep decoded transparency, or JPG when your destination requires it. JPG cannot keep alpha: the chosen solid background replaces transparent areas, initially white. The quality slider controls the browser encoder; 80% quality does not mean an 80% file-size reduction, and 100% is not a lossless guarantee.

The maximum width and height start at 1600 × 1600. The image fits inside both limits without stretching, cropping or enlargement. A 4000 × 2000 source becomes 1600 × 800. If that is more resizing than you need, raise the bounds before processing and inspect the resulting pixels.

Compare the real result

The output panel shows source and result dimensions, actual input/output bytes and the signed size difference. Some images are already efficient: re-encoding can create a larger file. The tool says so rather than hiding the result or claiming a saving. Lower quality or smaller dimensions may help, but compare the preview and keep your original.

Processing stays in this browser tab, with no image upload, account or paid AI call. Inputs are limited to 20 MiB, 16 megapixels and 8192 pixels per side; animated images are rejected. Output also stays within those pixel limits. Browser colour handling can affect results, source metadata is not copied, and this tool does not promise an exact KB size.

How to use it

  1. Choose a static image — Select PNG, JPG or static WebP from your device.
  2. Set the export — Choose WebP or JPG, quality and maximum dimensions. Select a matte for JPG transparency.
  3. Compare and download — Inspect the preview, dimensions and actual bytes. Download only when the result suits the destination.

Frequently asked questions

Will every image become smaller?

No. Re-encoding can make an already efficient source larger. The output panel compares actual bytes and shows a warning when that happens.

Can it compress to exactly 100 KB?

No. This version offers quality and pixel limits, not an automatic target-byte search. You can adjust settings and check the actual output size.

Does it keep transparency?

WebP output keeps decoded alpha. JPG output uses the chosen opaque background instead. Inspect translucent edges before downloading.

Is the file uploaded or stored?

The selected image is processed locally and is not sent to our server or AI. Generated results remain in the tab until you download them; they are not saved in local storage.
